Gerard Whateley will soon be announced as the new host of the ABC’s Sunday morning sports panel show Offsiders for 2014.

ABC veteran Barrie Cassidy is expected to stand down as host of the sports review show now that the ABC has confirmed the program will immediately follow its sister program Insiders on Sunday mornings in 2014.

Both Insiders and Offsiders are expected to relaunch in 2014 with a new look, including new set designs, Barrie Cassidy will remain as the host of Insiders.

Gerard has had plenty of experience with the program in the past as a regular panellist and fill in host since the show launched in 2006.

 2014 will be a busy year for Gerard Whateley as he continues to host AFL360 four nights a week on the Fox Footy Channel as well as commentating various sports including AFL for ABC Radio.

The change comes after ABC current affairs boss Bruce Belsham decided not to renew Inside Business last month.
