At last nights Ten UpFronts event held in Sydney, Ten officials re-confirmed that the once might Masterchef would return for a single season in 2014.
In discussing the program a Ten official said the cooking show would be returning to its roots, focusing more on the food and less on the tears and drama. Contestants will be encouraged to be more spontaneous and there will be less scripted situations.
By producing only a single season in 2014 it puts to an end the various Kid/Celebrity/Professional spinoff Masterchef’s series that Ten now believes have played a major factor in diluting the brand.
Popular TV chef Kyle Kwong will play a much bigger role on the show in 2014 replacing Matt Moran who has quit the series stating he is tired of the reality-cooking genre.
