The Nine/Fairfax owned SVOD service Stan has confirmed a new non-exclusive licensing agreement with Viacom that will bring hundreds of television programs to Stan’s soon-to-be-launched video streaming service.
The multi-year agreement will bring much loved kids, comedy, animation and reality series to Stan, including a selection of the world’s favourite shows from Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., MTV and Comedy Central.
The lineup of children’s programs features hit animated shows including SpongeBob SquarePants, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Avatar: The Last Airbender; popular live-action shows such as iCarly, VICTORiOUS, and Drake & Josh; and beloved pre-school titles like Dora the Explorer, Ni Hao, Kai-Lan and Bubble Guppies, all providing an affordable entertainment option for Australian families.
The deal also includes comedy favourites South Park and Tosh.O, critically acclaimed scripted series Awkward. and Reno 911!, plus reality TV hits Teen Mom, Geordie Shore, The Hills and 16 & Pregnant.
Also this week Stan has confirmed an agreement with the ABC. The multi-year agreement with the commercial arm of the ABC brings the best of ABC comedy, drama, factual and children’s programming to Stan.
Stan’s members will be have access to back-to-back episodes of Chris Lilley’s multi-award winning
series including Summer Heights High and Ja’mie Private School Girl as well as a range of other Australian comedy series, including Upper Middle Bogan, It’s a Date and The Moodys.
The lineup includes Australian dramas such as Rake starring Richard Roxburgh, Redfern Now, the crime series Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries, and favourites Jack Irish and Janet King. Also included in the programming suite are key factual programs such as Whitlam: The Power and the Passion, Wide Open Road and Gallipoli From Above.
Children’s programming, includes The Wiggles, Dorothy the Dinosaur, Guess How Much I Love You and Justine Clarke. Other children’s favourites include Octonauts, Angelina Ballerina, Bob the Builder, Thomas and Friends, Fireman Sam, Sesame Street and Mister Maker.
These announcements come on top of previously announced deals with Sony, MGM, BBC Worldwide, CBS Studios and SBS World Movies.
Stan is expected to launch in January 2015 and has promised to announced details of an original local production details shortly after
