Sweet tooth viewers were in for a treat in last night's episode of Recipe To Riches, with a mouth-watering cake taking out the desserts category. Sahar Awdi’s Tamir Cake with Sticky Toffee Sauce becomes the final product of the series to go on sale nationally in Woolworths stores for one week.

The supermarket dessert category is worth a staggering $1.4 billion annually, with consumers in awe of well-established brands. Sahar’s Tamir Cake with Sticky Toffee Sauce faced tough competition from Rob Bradbury’s Justice Desserts – Dessert Spring Rolls and Dean Larkman’s Peanut Butter and Caramel Popcorn Ice cream.

“I’ve got a big smile plastered across my face,” says Sahar, who originally devised her recipe to impress her three sisters. “It’s the beginning of a dream I’ve always had. My sisters aren’t surprised as they have always loved my cake, but they are very excited about this opportunity.”

Sahar’s Tamir Cake with Sticky Toffee Sauce is the final product to go on sale in this series of Recipe To Riches. Next week’s Grand Final will see the seven finalists discover who is the overall winner, collecting $100,000 and a business partnership with Woolworths.

“I’ve been keeping an eye on all the products and they are all amazing from a group of special people,” says Sahar, who pockets $10,000 as a category winner. “My hope is that Australians fall in love with my cake.”

Sahar’s Tamir Cake will go up against six other incredible products in the Grand Final – Mrs Mills Easy Bake Cookies, Michael King of Sausages’ Pork, Apple and Cinnamon sausages, Darcy’s Choc Bombs, Ricardo’s Mild & Smokey Ranchero Beans, Sav’s Kebab, and The Sausage Roll Co. Pork, Sage & Macadamia Bites.
