The Seven Network has made the decision to axe its 7pm news bulletins on 7Two.
Seven launched the evening bulletin in mid 2013, at the time Nine launched a rival service hosted by Peter Overton on its GEM multichannel however it only lasted a few months with Nine making the decision to focus resources on its extended one hour bulletins on the main channel. Sources have indicated that Seven have axed the 7pm bulletin for similar reasons.
The axing is a further blow for host Melissa Doyle, once one of the networks biggest stars she was dumped from Sunrise last year for the younger Samantha Armytage. At the time Doyle spoke of her excitement to be heading ‘Seven’s 7pm experiment’
The 7pm news has been replaced by repeats of Bargain Hunt. Doyle will continue to present the afternoon news on Seven.
