Social media has gone into meltdown this morning with reports that James Packer and David Gyngell have been pictured involved in a fist fight in the Sydney suburb of Bondi yesterday.
Casino and Media Tycoon James Packer and Nine Network CEO David Gyngell were witnessed punching and wrestling each other in the street. A witness by the name of Chris Walker has posted on Facebook that
"Packer packered a punch but copped a couple of hits straight to the jaw... Then they all fell on the concrete fence and I think the other guy broke his face... They were looking for teeth after he left... I was so thrilled, with a camera in my hand I didn't take a pic"
Seven News journalist Chris Reason has described the pictures as "extraordinary" with "Gyngell bearded and barefoot, Packer black eye, both in head locks on ground." "Blow by blow: furious Packer squares up, towers over Gyngell, G stands ground, both headlock, fall to ground, P on top G, 3 security jump in"
Packer and Gyngell had been lifelong friends however it's been wildly reported that the two suffered a falling out after Packers separation from second wife Erica.
In a statement released by the pair today Gyngell and Packer have stated "We have been friends for 35 years and still are.
In that time we have had our fair share of ups and downs.
We respect each other and neither of us will be commenting further."
A media bidding war erupted between a number of newspaper and magazine publishers all hoping to be the first to publish the pics. It has been reported that News Corp have paid $200,000 for all images and video.
