The XX Commonwealth Games Starts Tomorrow on Ten, One and tenplay

With less than 24 hours until the Opening Ceremony, Network Ten is ready to bring all the exhilaration of the XX Commonwealth Games in Glasgow to Australian viewers, live and exclusive on TEN, ONE and tenplay.

Network Ten’s stellar presenting team, led by Mel McLaughlin and Matt White, along with three of Australia’s most decorated athletes – Ian Thorpe OAM, Leisel Jones and Steve Hooker – will deliver all the action, excitement and drama synonymous with the Games, over 11 days of competition.

With 6500 athletes representing 71 nations and territories of the Commonwealth in attendance, the stage is set for a spectacular Games, with Australia aiming to top the medal tally and bring home a record gold medal haul.

Coverage commences on Thursday, July 24, at 5.30am AEST on TEN with the Opening Ceremony hosted by Mel McLaughlin and Matt White, with expert commentators Gordon Bray, Liz Ellis and Nicole Livingstone.

The Opening Ceremony will officially launch Scotland’s biggest ever festival of sport and culture, with Her Majesty the Queen set to declare the Games officially open.

Glasgow Live will kick off the evening’s prime time coverage on Thursday, July 24, from 6.00pm AEST on ONE, hosted by TEN Sport’s Greg Rust along with a team of experts including Nicole Livingstone,

Melinda Gainsford-Taylor, Liz Ellis and Rob de Castella.

From 9.30pm AEST, Mel McLaughlin and Ian Thorpe will take over the reins of Glasgow Live on TEN from the studio in the heart of Glasgow’s competition precinct.

With the live action and gold medal moments continuing right through the night and into the morning, Matt White, Steve Hooker and Leisel Jones will then host Glasgow Live from 3.00am AEST through to 8.30am AEST.

Throughout each day, ONE will encore all of the highlights, action and medal ceremonies from overnight in Glasgow.

In addition to 24-hour coverage on TEN and ONE, eight digital channels will be available on, enabling viewers to watch their favourite events and athletes from anywhere, at any time, live and free.
