SKY NEWS will give viewers a rare insight into what happens behind closed doors at the most senior levels of government – in The Cabinet.

The Cabinet is the first in a special series of programming that will see four former cabinet ministers across state and federal politics band together to discuss the top political issues of the week, with some twists – there is no anchor and the ministers are from opposing sides of politics.

The first episode will feature former Howard Government Ministers Peter Reith and Helen Coonan, former Minister in the Rudd and Gillard Governments, Craig Emerson and former NSW Premier Kristina Keneally.

SKY NEWS Political Editor David Speers said: “A lot of what we see in political debate is theatre, the big calls are made in the cabinet room. This program will uncover the previously secret process of turning promises into action by the people who have been there, the cabinet ministers.”

‘The Cabinet’ will premiere exclusive to SKY NEWS National (Ch 601), Monday August 18 at 8pm (AEST).
