Nightly at 8.20pm on ABC2
With Special Premiere Episode: Saturday, August 30 at 9.50pm
For the first time on free-to-air television, ABC2 will bring you all the action live from one of the biggest sporting contests on the planet – the FIBA MEN’s BASKETBALL WORLD CUP.
But, before crossing to Spain each night for live Boomer and Team USA games, join DAVE THORNTON and RONNY CHIENG, the basketball mad hosts of DOUBLE DRIBBLE. Both are funny; both are nuts for basketball, making them perfect for this new show on ABC2.
DOUBLE DRIBBLE takes irreverent look at basketball's World Cup - men's and women's - showing the highs, the lows, and everything in between. But you know... for our amusement, mostly the lows - witty, cheeky and displaying a true love for the sport of basketball.
DOUBLE DRIBBLE is a fun mix of sketches, basketball action, plus interviews - both real and fake, and generally an entertaining, not-too-serious look at a world cup event that doesn't traditionally get extensive coverage.
For two weeks, ABC2 will bring you the best basketball on the planet as Australia’s Boomers take on the rest of the world. Headlining the Boomers squad is current NBA Champion Aron Baynes and highly-touted NBA draftee Dante Exum, Cleveland Cavaliers’ Matthew Dellavedova and recent Euroleague titleholder Joe Ingles.
Calling the games from Spain and getting the latest news from inside the Aussie camp are Shane ‘The Hammer’ Heal and premier basketball commentator John Casey.
Then each night, sport broadcaster Stephanie Brantz will take us through the night’s coverage with a rotating cast of experts including four-time Olympian ‘The General’Phil Smyth, three-time Olympian Brett Maher, Australian basketball legend Andrew Gaze amongst a range of guest appearances.
Each night the team will share their knowledge of the Boomers and their opposition, along with their thoughts on the Aussies’ chances on the world stage in 2014.
And if you still want MORE basketball turn over to ABC as we bring you every one of Team USA’s games LIVE.
If its basketball you want, we’ll bring it to you in September on ABC2.
