Highly regarded AFL journalist Mike Sheahan will depart from Fox Footy's much beloved Monday night football program On The Couch at the end of this season.

Sheahan who along with host Gerard Healy has been with the program throughout its 13 year history. He was also involved with previous versions of the format on the Seven Network dating back to 1994.

The news was first reported on SEN radio and has since been confirmed by sources close to the situation by this website. A spokesperson for Fox Sports has denied the story.

When questioned about his future with the program on 3AW, Sheahan refused to confirm or deny the story stating "Like every veteran footballer, you consider your future on an annual basis".

It appears likely Sheahan will be replaced by former Brisbane Lions coach and player Michael Voss, breaking the tradition of having a working AFL journalist on the show.

Sheahan will remain with Fox Footy in 2015 and will continue to host the popular interview show Open Mike.

In May this website reported upon the unrest at Fox Footy and the feud between Sheahan and co-host Jason Dunstall.
