Independent Australian TV Guide and DVR supplier ICE-TV has been placed into voluntary administration.

In an email to creditors, the administrators TPH Insolvency report that the company “intends to continue trading in the normal course for a short period of time whilst an urgent sale of business campaign is conducted.”

The email goes on to say that if a purchaser cannot be found quickly, “it’s highly likely that the Company will unable to continue trading."

 

Established in 2005, ICE-TV has been well regarded by Australian TV Fans whom seek a more accurate TV guide and recording equipment free from restrictions.

ICE-TV had a history of battling against the Established media industry. In April 2009, Ice TV won a 3-year-long, Intellectual property case against the Nine Network; Nine had claimed ICE-TV was infringing copyright by displaying the station's programming info in its guide.

Earlier this year ICE-TV unveiled plans to sell a new DVR device called The Skippa. The unit was promoted as having a massive amount of storage and impressive ad-skipping abilities. A significant number of pre-orders were taken for the device which was originally promised for delivery in June, however after a series of delays it now appears unlikely customers will ever receive it.

A meeting of creditors will be held on Friday 16th October.
