After more than 6 years travelling the world for the Nine Network, Journalist Peter Stefanovic is returning to Australia to resume working from the Sydney newsroom.

Senior journalist Tom Steinfort whom is moving to London next week will replace Stefanovic in the Europe/Africa/Middle East Correspondent role.

The move back to Austrlia will allow Stefanovic to spend some time with girlfriend and Today Show newsreader Sylvia Jeffreys. The couple have been involved in a long-distance relationship for the last 18 months.

Stefanovic made the move to the Los Angeles Bureau in January 2008, where he worked under Nine veteran journalist Robert Penfold.

Nine then moved Peter from LA to London in September 2010 after David Gyngell made the decision to reopen the bureau. The London Bureau had been closed several years earlier during a round of cutbacks. During his four years in the London role, Stefanovic travelled to many of the worlds biggest trouble spots throughout Europe, The Middle East and Africa.

A Nine Network spokesperson telling this website yesterday “In the more than four years that Pete has worked out of London, the Bureau has been an outstanding success for 9 NEWS and TODAY."
