Fox Sports will offer cricket fans the option of viewing the Hindi World Feed coverage of Australia’s ICC Cricket World Cup Semi Final clash with India on Thursday (March 26, 1.30pm EDT on Fox Sports 503).
Following the success of alternate commentary options for NRL, AFL and Rugby Union, including 2014’s ‘Press Red for Fletch and Hindy’ and Fox Footy’s ‘Press Red for Ed’, the option of alternative cricket commentary is also a first for the sport in Australia.
Fed Live from Star India, the package includes full Hindi commentary and graphics, and will be the first time Fox Sports has offered alternate sports commentary in a foreign language.
Included in the team are a number of former Indian captains, including Sunil Gavaskar and Rahul Dravid, who are regarded as two of the greatest batsmen in the game, Kapil Dev, one of the best all-rounders of all time, and outstanding batsman, Sourav Ganguly.
Australian-based Indian fans will get a taste of home, hearing the full Hindi commentary by pressing Red on their Foxtel remote during the match broadcast.
The Fox Sports commentary team for the match will feature Brian Lara, Kevin Pietersen, Brendon Julian, Mark Waugh, Damien Fleming and Allan Border.
With cricket’s religious following on the subcontinent, ICC Cricket World Cup matches involving India have been watched by over one billion fans world-wide and the Hindi commentary team are well known for their excitable and colourful coverage. For the first time, Aussie cricket fans will have the opportunity to experience the passion and flare of the Indian coverage.
