The greatest test of all awaits eight overworked Blockheads when the four luxurious apartments they have created go to auction in the grand finale of The Block Triple Threat on Wednesday, April 29, at 7.30pm on Channel Nine.

This season of The Block has been a ratings disaster for Nine with audiences down 30%. Executive Producer Julian Cress has confirmed the program will go back to basics with a more family friendly 1 hour format and no eliminations when the program returns this Winter.

“We are going to give it a back to basics makeover,” Cress told News Corp. “We’ve probably got to a point where we were asking the audience to tune in for too long, for too many weeks and too long each night.
“We are going to pull it back and give them what they love about The Block and that’s just an hour show.”

So far this season contestants have survived cut-throat eliminations, gruelling challenges, months of sleep deprivation, and endured everything from wallpaper scandals, accusations of copying and controversial plan changes to financial audits over wine purchases.

Come auction time, they will have delivered 10 room reveals including three bedrooms, three bathrooms, state-of-the-art kitchens, and soon-to-be revealed stunning outdoor terraces.

Will three months of blood, sweat and tears net them a life-changing fortune, as was the case when Steve and Chantelle pocketed a record-breaking $736,000 inThe Block Fans v Faves in April last year?

Or will they be left shattered and broken, like two couples from The Block Glasshouse  who were left with a profit of just $10,000 six months later when their apartments failed to reach the dizzying sales heights they were anticipating?

In television’s ultimate reality program, the fate of The Block Triple Threat renovators will be put in the hands of the buying public. Whose design will impress the most?

Apartment 1 – Josh & Charlotte (NSW)

Apartment 2 – Tim & Anastasia (SA)

Apartment 3 – Jess & Ayden (QLD)

Apartment 4 – Darren & Deanne (VIC)

A reserve price will be set for each apartment. If their apartment sells, each couple will pocket the amount over the reserve. The couple whose apartment sells for the highest amount over its reserve will be named winners of The Block Triple Threat and bank an extra $100,000 in prizemoney.

An incredible $8,936,501 has already been won across nine series of The Block.
