New Leadership for Ten Eyewitness News in Melbourne

The Ten Network has confirmed the appointment of Mark Gillies as News Manager of Ten Eyewitness News in Melbourne.

The announcement comes after the recent departure of Olivia Hill Douglas from the position. At the time of her departure this website revealed the mood in the Melbourne bureau was considerably disenchanted with many unhappy with Douglas’ management style. Douglas had only been in the role for ten months having replaced previous long-time news director Dermot O'Brien.

Mark Gillies has been a senior producer with Ten News since 2013; prior to this he was a Deputy News Director at the Seven Network. In the new role Gillies will report to Ten’s National News Director John Choueifate.

As well as the appointment of Gillies, Ten has also confirmed journalists Joe Hill and Georgina McKerrow will soon move to Melbourne to bolster the number of reporters in that city. Hill is experienced journalist whom has previously worked in Adelaide and Sydney; While McKerrow is well regarded both as a journalist and as a news producer.
