Network Ten has confirmed the second series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, will premiere Sunday, 31 January, broadcasting live, five nights a week from South Africa.
The announcement means the series will get a one day head start on the launches of MKR and Australia’s Got Talent, but it will see the reality format premiere go head to head with two significant sports events, Australia vs India in T20 Cricket on Nine and the Australian Open Mens Tennis Final on Seven.
With zero contact to the outside world, daily food rations and no shelter from the elements, the latest collection of campmates will be tested physically and emotionally as they adjust to life in camp.
The 10 celebrity types confirmed to join co-hosts Julia Morris and Chris Brown in South Africa include:
· A Television Icon
· A Champion Sportswoman
· A Theatrical Lady
· A World Class Comedian
· An International DJ
· An AFL Legend
· A 90s Television Star
· A Hollywood Heartthrob
· A Record Breaking Pop Star
· A Rugby League Superstar
Playing out as a nightly live soap opera where viewers have complete control to decide who plays, who stays and who eats, the celebrities will be faced with challenges, Tucker Trials and adventures like never before.
Network Ten Head of Entertainment and Factual Programming, Stephen Tate, said: “This year on I'm A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! there will be more of everything. More laughter, more terrifying trials, more surprises and even more variety in our celebrities. The only exception to this will be the tucker. It's still just rice and beans.”
Last year saw Australian viewers crown international Test cricketer Andrew ‘Freddie’ Flintoff as their honorary Australian King of the Jungle. Who will have the skills, personality and strength of character this year to brave the jungle and ultimately win the votes?
For the first time in Australia, viewers can catch-up on all the behind-the-scenes action from camp with the brand new companion show, I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here NOW!. Hosted by jungle alumni and the crown prince of comedy, Joel Creasey, and Heather Maltman from The Bachelor Australia, this new format will broadcast live from South Africa on ELEVEN and streamed live on tenplay each night after the main show. Joined by a panel of special guests, Joel and Heather will discuss and dissect the daily events and provide the latest exclusive news and gossip direct from celebrity camp.
