Retiring great Lleyton Hewitt takes on Aussie compatriot James Duckworth LIVE on Channel 7/7mate and the 7Tennis app from 7pm AEDT.

The sporting world will hold its collective breath as Hewitt kicks off his 20th Australian Open campaign against fellow Aussie James Duckworth, who will be aiming to spoil the party.

Late in the afternoon, controversial Australian Bernard Tomic starts his tournament aiming to repeat his excellent run last year as he takes on Uzbekistan's Denis Istomin. Also late afternoon Rafael Nadal battles his Spanish compatriot Fernando Verdasco. World No. 2 Andy Murray faces German Alexander Zverev second up on Margaret Court Arena during the day.

Big serving Aussie Sam Groth starts the day on Seven's coverage at 11am as he faces Frenchman Adrian Mannarino.

Tuesday night, the 2014 Australian Open champion Stan Wawrinka battles Russian Dmitry Tursunov after No.2 seed Romanian Simona Halep takes on China's Shuai Zhang.

Other Aussies in action include Jarmila Wolfe taking on Latvian Anastasija Sevastova, young Aussie Tammi Patterson facing Serbian Ana Ivanovic, Matt Ebden up against Spaniard Marcel Granollers, John Millman against Argentinean Diego Schwartzman, and Jordan Thompson battling Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci. Young Australians Priscilla Hon, Maddison Inglis and Kimberly Birrell will all take to the courts of Melbourne Park too.
