Foxtel has confirmed it will fast-track season three of award-winning US drama series The Affair from Tuesday November 22 on showcase
The critically acclaimed series will jump forward to three years following the climactic events of the second season which saw things not looking too bright for Noah Solloway.
The Affair stars Golden Globe nominee Dominic West, Golden Globe winner Ruth Wilson, Emmy Award nominee Maura Tierney and Screen Actors Guild nominee Joshua Jackson.
The series explores the emotional and psychological effects of an affair that destroyed two marriages, and the crime that brings these individuals back together.
Season 3 of The Affair picks up three years after Noah’s (West) shocking admission of guilt at the murder trial of Scott Lockhart. Noah attempts to restart his life, but the damage wrought by his past decisions has made him a ghost of his former self. Alison (Wilson) has been raising daughter Joanie alongside Cole (Jackson) and Luisa in Montauk, but Alison’s past continues to rear its ugly head as Cole and Luisa attempt to build their own future.
“We pick up 3 years later, Noah has done his jail time but he is haunted and broken by his experience; said West.
“All these characters are reeling from the consequences of the huge trauma that they’ve put each other though” said Ruth Wilson who plays Alison.
For Helen (Tierney), life appears to continue on, but just below the surface of a successful business and a bustling home lies uncertainty with her boyfriend Vik, instability amongst her children, and an unshakeable feeling of guilt.
Award-winning playwright and writer/producer Sarah Treem (House of Cards, In Treatment) and Hagai Levi (In Treatment) created the series. Treem serves as executive producer, along with Levi and director Jeffrey Reiner (Friday Night Lights).
The series' trademark formula will remain, with episodes told through different viewpoints and a new character will join the series, played by Irène Jacob – as Noah’s new love interest.
