ESPN Australia has seen a surge in TV ratings and audience during October following the return of the 2016-17 NBA season and the history-making MLB World Series, combined with the NFL season already in full swing.
With double the LIVE NBA coverage compared to last season, ESPN TV has recorded the top audience month ever achieved for both ESPN TV overall and ESPN2 independently. ESPN and ESPN2 was also the #1 sports TV network amongst males 18-34 during 13 days in October.
October has delivered ESPN2 the highest-rated month on record with a +33% improvement over the channels previous record. Highlights include the NBA opening week with four doubleheader games and the MLB World Series featuring Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Indians, which drew record-breaking baseball National average audience of 45,000 viewers on ESPN for Game 4 on Sunday, October 30.
