Foxtel will this month premiere a new special that chronicles the history of Surfing in Australia.

Men of Wood & Foam tells the story of the pioneers of the Australian surfboard industry known affectionately as the Brookvale Mafia.

Through the stories of these Aussie pioneers we’ll trace the roots of the modern Australian surfboard, from fine-tuning the toothpick for wave riding in the 40’s through to the arrival of the Malibu chip, the development of the Okanui in the 50’s and the peroxide surf boom of the early 60’s.

Men of Wood & Foam premieres exclusively on Foxtel's HISTORY channel, on Wednesday December 14 at 7.30pm.
