The Seven Network has confirmed it has commissioned ITV Studios Australia to produce an Australian version of Cannonball.
Cannonball is described as a “spectacular outdoor water-based game show” in which 15 daredevil young couples compete in a fun and action-packed water battle set on a lake. Across several rounds covering distance, speed and height, each couple attempts to jump the highest, slide the furthest and fly the highest in order to be crowned the champions.
Seven has a history of water based programming, who could forget Celebrity Splash or Man’O’Man.
Casting for the series has now commenced with ITV Studios stating,
“Size doesn’t matter on this show (in fact being bigger could be better and being small may make you slide faster) so find a friend, a fitness fanatic, a family member or even a date for the most exciting day out and your chance to be slip n flying high on television.”
Ideally ITV is looking for two people who know each other to compete together as a team and these application will be given priority.
Seven’s Director of Network Production, Brad Lyons, said:
“Australians of all ages will be cheering on our fearless contestants as they attempt to fly further, faster and harder than their competitors. Expect high-flying thrills and stupendous spills – Cannonball’s got it all!”
CANNONBALL will go into production in Sydney later this year.
