Australian music performer Conrad Sewell is the first artist named as a performer for the 58th Logie Awards.

The 28-year-old burst onto the scene in 2014 when he lent his distinctive and soulful voice to Norwegian hit-maker Kygo’s international smash, “Firestone”.

The singer-songwriter went on to confirm he’s a huge talent when his hit single, “Start Again”, not only went to No. 1 in the charts, but won Song Of The Year at the 2015 ARIA Awards.

Conrad says he’s thrilled to be performing at this year’s Logie Awards.

"I’m so excited and honoured,” he says. “I grew up watching the Logie Awards and all the incredible performances on TV. I can’t wait to share my special performance with everyone.”

The selection of Sewell as a performer will help avoid past years criticism that the awards focus to heavily on overseas musical acts.

 

TV Week editor Emma Nolan is looking forward to seeing Conrad on stage.

“We’re delighted Conrad is performing this year,”  Emma says. “He’s a fantastic talent and his song ‘Start Again’ was one of the biggest hits of last year. There’s no doubt he will put on a great performance at this year’s Logies – I can’t wait to see him light up the stage!”

The 58th Logie Awards will take place on Sunday, May 8, at Crown Entertainment Complex’s Palladium Room in Melbourne, with the event telecast on the Nine Network.
