This year we will pause to remember three of Australia’s greatest heroic moments in war:
· The 100th anniversary of the nation’s most deadly battle at Pozieres on the Western Front in the First World War.
· The Siege of Tobruk in World War II, where our diggers were branded “the rats” – not an insult, but a compliment because they were admired for their incredible ability to survive.
· The Battle of Long Tan, where 108 Australian troops were caught under fire by an overwhelming enemy force of 2,500 during the Vietnam War.
