Top Gear gets an airdate | Clarkson, Hammond & May show gets a name

The BBC has finally confirmed the new season of TOP GEAR will launch on BBC Knowledge on Monday May 30 at 8.30pm AEST.

The rebooted series will air Express from the UK. BBC Knowledge is available in Australia on Foxtel and Fetch TV.

Over the last 8 months, hosts Chris Evans; Matt LeBlanc; Sabine Schmitz; Chris Harris; Eddie Jordan; Rory Reid and The Stig have driven oven over 7500 miles, undertaken both on and off road challenges, tested the very latest cars and filmed in nine countries across four continents to create the new series.

For the first time, Top Gear will be accompanied by Extra Gear hosted by Rory Reid which will air on BBC Knowledge after Top Gear. Filmed at the famous Top Gear studio, Extra Gear will bring audiences exclusive new footage, interviews, specially recorded films and behind the scenes access to the world of Top Gear.

Meanwhile Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have attempted to hijack the publicity for Top Gear by announcing the name for their new motoring program.

THE GRAND TOUR produced for Amazon, will feature the trio traveling to different locations around the globe, with the 'studio' segments to be filmed before a live audience in a giant tent.

The new show is being produced by former Top Gear executive producer Andy Wilman.

The Grand Tour is expected to premiere in October/November. An Australian broadcaster or streaming partner is yet to be confirmed.
