Iggy Azalea
The Seven Network has today confirmed Australian born rap star Iggy Azalea, will join the judging panel of The X Factor later this year replacing Danni Minogue.
Azalea, shot to fame in 2014 with her global smash Fancy reaching number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Since then Iggy has gone on to collaborate with some of the world’s biggest artists including Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez and Jennifer Hudson.
“I understand what it’s like to have giant dreams and intend to help other young Australians achieve theirs by sharing my knowledge and developing their talent in collaboration with The X Factor”, says Iggy.
“I really didn’t picture myself being a judge on any kind of television show but I think that actually this could be a good fit for me so I said yes,” she said.
“Initially I didn’t know but then I thought it would be good to come back to Australia and have an opportunity to spend some time there and obviously to see my family, who live in Sydney. So I think it will be a good situation for multiple reasons. I’m really excited and I don’t really know what to expect.”
The X Factor has been responsible for launching the careers of Dami Im, Samantha Jade, Reece Mastin, Cyrus, and Jess & Matt.
The other 3 judges joining Iggy on The X Factor in 2016 are set to be revealed very soon.
Brad Lyons, Channel Seven’s Director of Production, said:
“The X Factor is bringing Iggy home to Australia. Nobody knows what it takes to break through in today’s industry better than her. With such international success at only 26, our contestants have the chance to be mentored by the best in the business.”
