Foxtel has today announced a new partnership that will give its customers free access the US Reality TV SVOD service HAYU.

Hayu which is owned by NBCUniversal, launched in Australia in March. The service provides streaming access to a number of popular US reality formats for a fee of $5.99 per month. Much of the programming available on Hayu is also broadcast by Foxtel.

The new deal means Foxtel residential subscribers, whose subscription package includes the channel E! Entertainment Television, will have access to hayu as part of their existing Foxtel subscription, at no extra cost.

Its an interesting partnership given Foxtel is also a part-owner in SVOD competitor Presto.

Hayu has more than 3,000 episodes of reality shows, including Keeping Up with the Kardashians, The Real Housewives (US versions), Million Dollar Listing and Top Chef franchises, along with series such as I Am Cait, The Millionaire Matchmaker, Made In Chelsea and Shahs of Sunset.

Hayu is also regularly adding new episodes, often on the same day as the US premiere.

Hendrik McDermott, SVP, Branded On-Demand, NBCUniversal International said:

“Having only just launched in Australia in March, we are delighted to now make hayu directly available to Foxtel subscribers. Through this collaboration with our long-term platform partner in this market, we are one step closer to our goal of enabling the widest possible audience of reality fans to access this immersive SVOD service on the broad range of devices they use daily.”

Brian Walsh, Executive Director of Television, Foxtel said:

“Foxtel has an incredible collection of hit reality shows across our channels Arena, E!, Style and Lifestyle YOU. Foxtel and NBCUniversal have a longstanding relationship that has enjoyed incredible success in bringing high-quality, unscripted programming to subscribers hungry for entertainment and the availability of hayu to our subscribers at no extra cost is another great value-add to a Foxtel subscription.”

hayu is now available to Foxtel subscribers with the Entertainment Plus pack, or packages that include the channel E! Entertainment Television, at hayu.com/foxtel.
