Ahead of next week's season four finale, Foxtel has today confirmed drama series Wentworth will return for a 12 episode fifth seasonin 2017.

FremantleMedia Australia will commence production on season five of the drama in Melbourne next month.

“It was a very easy decision to commission a further season of this brilliantly constructed and crafted program from our production partner FremantleMedia. There is a lot in store both for the women behind bars and those on the outside."

The season four finale of Wentworth will air Tuesday, July 26th on Foxtel’s SoHo channel.
