Yes, sadly it’s that time of year where another excellent season of Foxtel’s Wentworth comes to a close and I write about some of my suspicions for what could happen in the season closer. Thankfully and not at all surprising, Wentworth has been picked up for a fifth season!
So, I’ll happily admit calling bull on Ferguson ending up inside the walls of Wentworth but will also happily admit that, that scenario made for compelling television!
So here we go, my eight season four end game suspicions – POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD FOR THOSE NOT UP-TO-DATE!
1: Joan Ferguson Becomes a Free Woman - The latter part of this season has focused a lot on Joan’s pending court hearing and her attempts to be rid of her former paid thug Nils Jasper and prison top dog Bea Smith (Danielle Cormack), both of whom, acting as witnesses pose a threat to her possible freedom. Joan’s recent attack on Allie (Kate Jenkinson) could set forth a chain reaction that might see Bea blame enemy Karen Proctor (Tammy MacIntosh), retaliate and end up in ‘the slot’ thus unable to become a star witness against Joan.
2: Sonia Reveals Her True Colors to Liz - New inmate Sonia Stevens (Sigrid Thornton) has been a tough one to crack so far. Liz (Celia Ireland) currently tasked with finding out if Sonia actually murdered her best friend (and possibly her husband) has left Liz recently sensing a much darker side to wealthy cosmetics queen. Could Liz finally tell one story too many pushing Sonia into either confessing all or shutting Liz up for once and for all?
3: There Will Be No Top Dog - With Bea voluntarily stepping away from the ‘top dog’ position after admitting she lagged on Mercado (Charli Tjoe) and Kaz once again on the wrong end of a beat-down from Bea, it could be that no one ends up in the role of prison top dog and even though many liked Maxine (Socratis Otto) and her kinder nature when she filled in for Bea, her ill-health would prevent her from taking the leadership.
4: Boomer Does Not Fall Pregnant - With Boomer (Katrina Milosevic) able to get her hands on Maxine’s baby juice, there’s been a big lead-up to any kind of reveal to whether she is actually pregnant or not so much so, Boomer has even stepped aside from any ‘grunt’ work in case she is pregnant. Don’t be surprised if the pregnancy doesn’t take or for something bad to happen in season 5.
5: Vera Will Find Out all of Jake’s Past Offences - Bad boy Jake has gone from new prison officer to dealing with the devil and everything in between and his relationship with Vera (Kate Atkinson) could end up fizzling out when and if his past indiscretions come out. Not only will the relationship be over but so would his job at Wentworth.
6: An Inmate Will Die - While it’s not clear who it would be but with the prison in total disarray, chances are, one of the inmates could die. Whether it’s from an attack or from an overdose , there’s enough bad karma floating around to see this happen.
7: Doreen’s Sentence is Extended/Reduced - Torn between two gangs, her baby Joshua and partner Nash (Luke McKenzie) dashing out of state, things aren’t going too well for Doreen. To tie up these loose ends, Doreen will do something that could see her stay at Wentworth extended even longer or we’ll see Doreen leave on parole and deal with life outside Wentworth but without access to her son.
8: Franky Distances Herself more from Wentworth - While it took some time for Franky to remove herself from the grasps of Wentworth, she’s found herself back in the thick of it dealing with Shayne (Hunter Page-Lochard) and his relationship to Ferguson and Will Jackson (Robbie Magasiva). Could Franky finally wash her hands of her past life and completely stay away from Wentworth?
So there you have it! Eight of my suspicions for season fours finale – and while i’ve offered these suggestions, some of these I hope don’t come true! I’d actually like to see Bea retain top dog status, I’d like to see Jake stick around. The Ferguson getting free…I feel like this is the big one the season has been playing up to.
What do you guys think? Am I headed down the right path or am I missing something all-together? Sound off in the comments below!
Wentworth Season four finale airs Tuesday night, 8:30pm on SoHo.
