AFL audiences edge out NRL in Friday Night Finals Football

Friday night finals football is continuing to generate huge viewing audiences in both codes this weekend.

The Hawthorn v Western Bulldogs clash scored a National Free to Air average audience of 1.359 million (peak of 1.942 million).

An additional 432,000 viewers watched the game on Fox Footy, meaning the total National average audience was 1.791 million.

The metro 5 City average audience for the game on Seven and 7Mate was 1.009 million, including an average audience of 644,000 viewers in Melbourne.

The North Queensland Cowboys vs Brisbane Broncos NRL clash was just behind the AFL with a National Free to Air average audience of 1.293 Million (5 City: 828,000 / Regional:465,000) on Nine and 9Gem. The extra-time thriller peaked at 1.784 Million nationally.

An additional 336,000 viewers watched the game on Fox Sports, meaning the total National average audience was 1.629 million.

In Brisbane the game had an average audience of 459,000 (peak of 555,000) however Sydney viewers were less interested in the Queensland clash with an average audience of 314,000 (peak of 470,000) viewing the game.
