Weekend binge watch: Transparent: Season 3 (Stan, September 24)
Less than a week after a successful night at the Emmys for star Jeffrey Tambor (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series) and creator Jill Soloway (Outstanding Direction for a Comedy Series), Transparent returns to Stan for its third season. After a jarring reality check, Maura seeks to become the woman she envisions through gender confirmation surgery. All paths converge on a family cruise to Mexico, affirming that each Pfefferman is their truest self when they come together.
Longmire: Season 5 (Netflix, September 23)
Season five of Longmire picks up after the dramatic cliff-hanger of season four, where Walt Longmire and his girlfriend Dr. Donna Sue Monaghan are shot by an armed intruder in Walt’s house. Laying in a hospital bed attempting to make sense of the attack, their fate and relationship both seem uncertain. However, one thing is clear: Walt Longmire is being hunted.
Audrie & Daisy (Netflix, September 23)
Audrie & Daisy is a real-life drama that examines the ripple effects on families, friends, schools and communities when two underage women find that sexual crimes against them have been caught on camera. Audrie & Daisy takes a hard look at America’s teenagers who are coming of age in this new world of social media bullying, spun wildly out of control.
Power: Season 3 finale (Stan, September 26)
The third season of Power began when Ghost (Omari Hardwick) had given up his life of crime to be with Assistant US Attorney Angela Valdez (Lela Loren), his high school sweetheart. It seemed to be going well, up until he learned that his best friend Tommy (Joseph Sikora) was under orders to have him killed. At the end of the third season, Ghost and Tommy are under the thumb of a Serbian drug dealer, and Angela’s job is on the line once again due to her relationship with Ghost.
The Driftless Area (Presto, September 27)
Pierre Hunter (Anton Yelchin) finds himself falling in love with a mysterious woman named Stella (Zooey Deschanel, New Girl) in this Canadian-American neo-noir dramedy.
