Weekend Binge Watch: Sneaky Pete: Season 1 (Amazon Prime Video, January 27)
Sneaky Pete follows a released convict (Giovanni Ribisi) who adopts the identity of his cell mate in order to avoid his past life. Created by Bryan Cranston and David Shore, Sneaky Pete stars Cranston and character actress Margo Martindale, and is executive produced by Graham Yost (Justified).
Riverdale: Season 1, Episode 1 (Netflix, January 27)
New episodes of the Archie comics adaptation, described as a cross between Twin Peaks and The O.C., will be fast-tracked to Netflix on Fridays. Archie’s (K.J. Apa) got an edge. Veronica’s (Camila Mendes) hiding her past. Riverdale is a little darker and a lot more interesting than it was in the days of Archie comics.
Under the Dome: Season 2 (Stan, January 30)
In the second season of Under the Dome, the inhabitants of Chester’s Mill struggle to break free of their nightmare. With resources running low, they desperately seek answers to what the barrier is and where it came from.
American Sniper (Stan, January 30)
Clint Eastwood’s Oscar winning film American Sniper lands on Stan January 30. In the critically acclaimed biopic, Bradley Cooper stars as U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle, who became the deadliest marksman in U.S. military history.
Captain America: Civil War (Netflix, January 31)
With many people fearing the actions of superheroes, the government decides to push for the Hero Registration Act, a law that limits heroes’ actions. This leads to a divide in the Avengers, as Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) stands with the Act, claiming that their actions must be kept in check, but Captain America feels that saving the world is daring enough and they cannot rely on the government to protect the world. Captain America: Civil War also stars Scarlett Johannsson as Black Widow and Anthony Mackie as The Falcon, as well as introducing Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther, and Tom Holland as Spiderman.
