Ahead of tonight’s premiere of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here, TEN’S publicity team have made the unusual decision to release the names of two celebrities heading into the jungle
TEN has paid for a number of journalists to travel to South Africa to cover the show, these journalists are heavily restricted in what they are allowed to reveal, however this year Jonathan Moran from News Corp was allowed to reveal Lisa Curry as a contestant, while Fairfax writer Ebony Bowden has published an interview with Steve Price.
Revealing two names certainly spoils some of the fun for viewers tonight but TEN is desperate to generate publicity for the premiere episode, particularly now that it will be competing against a historic Federer VS Nadal Australian Open Final on Seven
Price told Fairfax that he new little about the reality show he was about to join:
"I deliberately didn't want to watch the show because I don't think I would have done it. If I'd done that I would have said no, I think.”
"I'm going to be wanting to be in charge but there will be other personalities within this group who won't want me to be in charge. They'll want me to just be one of the group. That's going to be a difficult thing for me because I like to run things."
Meanwhile Curry told News Corp she was nervous about heading into the Jungle:
“People think because you are an Olympian, you must be really tough. I am a pussy cat. I am a crybaby. I am a bit of a walkover sometimes.”
“I would say that I’m scared of spiders and snakes, I can’t stand them. I really don’t like heights and I don’t like pretentious people. It might be the wrong show,”
Curry and Price will join eight other celebrities in the Jungle, you can read the DeciderTV predictions here.
