Fleabag (Amazon Prime, February 10)
Written by and starring Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Crashing, Broadchurch), Fleabag is a hilarious and poignant window into the mind of a dry-witted, sexual, angry, grief-riddled woman (Waller-Bridge) as she hurls herself at modern living in London. Fleabag is based on Waller-Bridge’s award winning play of the same name, and is regarded as one of the best television shows of 2016.
Valley of Love (Stan, February 13)
Valley of Love is one of the many acclaimed world films new to Stan this month. Isabelle Huppert and Gérard Depardieu star as characters based on themselves. The fictional Isabelle and Gérard are movie stars who were once married, and they reunite in California’s Death Valley, following instructions they received in a letter from their dead son.
Girlfriend’s Day (Netflix, February 14)
In a city where greeting card writers are celebrated like movie stars, romance writer Ray Wentworth (Bob Odenkirk, Better Call Saul) used to be the king. In trying to recapture the feelings that once made him the greatest, he gets entangled in a web of murder and deceit as writers vie to create the perfect card for a new holiday: Girlfriend’s Day.
Girls: Season 6 Episode 1 (Foxtel Play/Foxtel Go, February 15)
The season premiere of Lena Dunham’s controversial show about twenty-somethings in New York will be available for streaming on Foxtel platforms after it airs on showcase. In the final season, Hannah (Dunham), Marnie (Allison Williams), Shosanna (Zosia Mamet) and Jessa (Jemima Kirke) make some progress towards growing up but inevitably fall back into old patterns. Final season guest stars include Riz Ahmed, Matthew Rhys and Tracey Ullman.
