The summer ratings period came to close on Saturday night, and it was mostly business as usual.
Seven's MKR while down on previous years, it is still steamrolling the competition winning four nights last week, the best figure was Tuesday with an average of 1.41m viewers.
Nine's expanded Married at First Sight seems to be off to a good start holding its own against the established reality shows, its best figure last week was 920k on Tuesday night
Ten's I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here has gained some traction, with an eclectic mix of contestants, Steve Price could be a breakout star this season. An average of 773k viewers watched on Thursday night
Let's see what the week gave us.
Hits: You can't go past the runaway success of 7s Murder Uncovered (957k) on Wednesday night, there will be some major nervousness at 9 when their alternative launches this week head to head against former 9 talent Michael Usher kicking major goals now on 7. True crime has had something of resurgence with the huge ratings for Jon Benet late last year and the unbelievable success of Making a Murderer on Netflix the year before.
Misses: This is Us (576k) despite all the hype did underwhelming numbers, a solid drama with hopefully room to grow, you'd have to think 10 would be very disappointed, the encore didn't seem to have much of an audience on Friday either. 10s Saturday leaves such a big hole too, it's primary share (6.2) finishing below 9Go! (7.0)
Indeterminate: Hot Seat (520k on Monday) in the new format seems to be treading water, it will be interesting to see if it can make any further gains against The Chase.
With the official ratings survey now underway, Seven will be hoping to emulate its mini series success with Hoges, whatever happens, all the networks are bracing for another bruising year, bring it on!
