The ABC has confirmed an airdate for season 5 of The Doctor Blake Mysteries, with the top rating drama set to return on Sunday 17th September at 8:30pm
Season 5 will consist of eight 1-hour episodes and a telemovie. Potentially this could be the finale for the popular series, after the ABC confirmed it would not produce any more episodes of the high rating drama.
Both Foxtel and the Seven Network are understood to now be considering taking over production of the series for 2018.
ABC Head of Scripted Production Sally Riley told fans of the show in March, “Dr Blake has had a sensational run on the ABC and we feel that the time is right to go out while we are still on top. We have a fantastic final season still to come and we look forward to wrapping the series up with a satisfying movie-length finale, as we bid farewell to an Australian TV icon.”
In Season 5 Doctor Lucien Blake and his long-suffering housekeeper and confidant Jean Beazley now face a new future together, full of possibility… but life has a few more surprises in store for the both of them.
