A new dedicated food channel will arrive tomorrow with the launch of 7Food Network.
The new channel is a partnership between Seven and Discovery Networks, and features food programming including a number of popular titles previously broadcast via SBS Food Network.
At launch, 7Food will only be available on channel 74 in the 5 city metro markets and Seven-owned Queensland regional stations.
The new channel will not be available via Foxtel satellite or cable platforms with a spokesperson for Foxtel telling DeciderTV; “Seven have made the decision to keep this as an exclusive FTA broadcast.”
As previously revealed by this website, the majority of regional viewers are also set to miss out on new free-to-Air multi-channel 7Food at launch
A spokesperson for Prime7 confirmed the launch delay telling DeciderTV the regional broadcaster was; “currently in discussion with the Seven Network in regard to carriage of the new channel.” However, the spokesperson added; “We are unable to confirm PRIME7 will be part of the December 1st launch date at this stage.”
Prime7 is the largest regional affiliate for the Seven Network and operates stations throughout regional NSW, ACT, Victoria and the Gold Coast.
DeciderTV understands the delay has been caused in-part by Prime7 commitments to broadcasting shopping channels, and comes after the regional broadcaster frustrated regional viewers by taking 18 months to negotiate a carriage agreement for 7flix.
Viewers in other markets such as Tasmania, Northern Territory and regional Western Australia and South Australia are also set to miss out on the channel. Many of these viewers are still waiting for the introduction of 7flix and 9Life.
While many viewers look set to miss out on the channel via FTA TV, they will be able to access the content via the 7Plus website.
7Food Network will be the new home for GUY’S GROCERY GAMES, FOOD NETWORK STAR, CHOPPED, RESTAURANT: IMPOSSIBLE, DINERS, DRIVE-INS AND DIVES, CUTTHROAT KITCHEN, IRON CHEF AMERICA, BEST BAKER IN AMERICA, SPRING BAKING CHAMPIONSHIP and KID’S BAKING CHAMPIONSHIP, plus brand-new episodes of RIDICULOUS CAKES.
7Food Network will also reheat and serve seasons of popular Australian originals including MY KITCHEN RULES, BETTER HOMES AND GARDENS, ZUMBO’S JUST DESSERTS, FAST ED'S FAST FOOD, ANH DOES VIETNAM, MY FRANCE WITH MANU, AROUND THE WORLD WITH MANU, MANU’S AMERICAN ROAD TRIP, MY IRELAND WITH COLIN and AUSSIE BARBECUE HEROES.
Seven has also committed to producing new original content for the network in the future.
