Streaming Guide February 16 – 22

Everything Sucks!: Season 1 (Netflix, February 16)

Everything Sucks! is Netflix’s delightful new high school comedy set in 1996. Freshman Luke O’Neill (Jahi Di’Allo Winston) joins the A.V. Club at Boring High School (that’s the name of the town), where he meets his first crush Kate Messner (Peyton Kennedy). After accidentally starting a feud with the drama club, the two groups of misfits join forces to make Boring High’s first ever film.

Mozart in the Jungle: Season 4 (Stan, February 17)

After failing to secure a place in the New York Symphony Orchestra, Hailey (Lola Kirke, Mistress America) focuses on her burgeoning conducting career, while making her relationship with Rodrigo (Gael García Bernal) public. Meanwhile, Thomas (Malcolm McDowell) joins a start-up orchestra in Queens that challenges Gloria (Bernadette Peters).

The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale: Season 1, Episode 1 (Netflix, February 18)

The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale (The Soup, Community) is Netflix’s second attempt at a weekly talk show. The first episode will feature McHale’s Community co-stars Alison Brie and Jim Rash, as well as Kevin Hart, Mike Colter, Paul Riser and Jodie Sweetin.

Marvel’s Runaways: Season 1, Episode 1 (Foxtel Now, February 20)

Based on the popular series by Brian K. Vaughan (it’s very good, you should read it), Runaways follows six teenagers who reel from the discovery that their parents are super-villains and learn that they have their own powers. Runaways is Marvel’s version of a teenage drama; it’s been adapted for television by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage (The O.C., Gossip Girl), and it’s set in Los Angeles, so you don’t need to worry about keeping up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe (although you should definitely see Black Panther).
