Tuesday’s amazing win by Aussie tennis battler John Millman in defeating Roger Federer has turned into a win for SBS, with the network scoring the right to broadcast LIVE his next highly anticipated encounter against Novak Djokovic.
Under a deal signed last year with ESPN, SBS currently holds Free-To-Air broadcast rights to the Quarter-finals, Semi-finals and Finals of the US Open in 2017 and 2018, with the option to extend the deal for a further 3 years.
Fresh off one of the biggest upsets in US Open history, Aussie John Millman will face another all-time tennis great, Novak Djokovic in the US Open quarter-finals.
Australians can catch all the action from the blockbuster clash tomorrow morning live, free and in HD on SBS.
SBS’s TV coverage starts from 9am Thursday (AEST) with live streaming of the tournament also available for free via SBS On Demand and SBS Sport website.
Millman v Djokovic will be the second match of the morning, following the women’s singles quarter-final between last year’s finalist Madison Keys and Carla Suarez Navarro.
Millman, a 29-year-old Australian from Brisbane, ranked 55th in the world, has become the talk of the tournament after his round 16 shock upset win over Roger Federer, where he closed out the match against the 20-time Grand Slam champion in four sets. Tomorrow morning his impressive underdog run in the US Open continues.
