Portugal vs Germany brings strong audience for SBS World Cup coverage

When Portugal took on Germany, all eyes were on Ronaldo to show the world why he is currently FIFA's World Player of the Year. The Germans won the match with a 4-0 win, with no goal yet from Ronaldo.

The early morning match averaged 272,000 (235,000 Metro + 38,000 Regional - averages based on actual whistle times), with a strong Metro FTA Share of 55.7%, a Regional FTA Share of 34.4% and a peak audience of 325,000 (Metro + Regional).

Then, Iran took on Nigeria, which saw the first draw (0-0) for 2014 FIFA World Cup, with the game averaging 141,000(111,000 Metro + 30,000 Regional), and a Metro FTA Share of 26.1%, a Regional FTA Share of 15.0% and a peak audience of 216,000 (Metro + Regional).

Finally, Ghana took on the USA, with team USA scoring in the first minute of the match and eventually winning 2-1. The match averaged 264,000 (216,000 Metro + 48,000 Regional), with a Metro FTA Share of 19.9%, a Regional FTA Share of 8.3% and a peak audience of 317,000 (Metro + Regional).

SBS's website theworldgame.sbs.com.au attracted 213,000 Unique Browsers and served 347,000 video stream views. Usage of the World Game World Cup Edition App, available on iOS and Android, continues to increase. 111,000 Unique Users accessed the App yesterday, viewing 307,000 video streams.
