We’ve been pretty spoilt the last couple of weeks on Game of Thrones. Showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss have kept up a cracking pace throughout the first four episodes.

The pieces are beginning to fall into place as we near the end of season five of Wentworth. Yet there’s still plenty of story to tell.

After the roller coaster ride of the previous two episodes, this week’s Wentworth offering was a somewhat more ‘subdued’ affair. But it sets us up nicely for the final two episodes of the season.

As an actor, it must be an absolute blast (and liberating) to play a character that is the epitome of “TV evil”. You can give free reign to whatever may lurk in the very deep recesses of your soul to make your character the quintessential ‘bad guy’.

After focusing almost exclusively on individual story lines in the first handful of episodes of Season 5, the Wentworth writers now return to a multi-storey narrative in “Belly of the Beast”.

We’re almost at the half waypoint of season 5 of Wentworth and things have just got very “real”. We’ve begun to see the repercussions of Liz’s downfall in the witness box.

The chickens have come home to roost for poor old serial lagger, Lizzie Birdsworth (Celia Ireland).  Promised early release from Wentworth in return for lying in the witness box, things don’t go quite as planned.

Wentworth has wasted no time in ramping up the tension in season five and in episode two, we see Franky Doyle back behind bars.

There’s never a dull moment on Wentworth and in the season five premiere, we’re thrown a few curve balls that should keep us coming back every Tuesday night.
