Spectacular aerial footage from inside tonight’s 9pm Family Fireworks and Midnight Fireworks display will be captured by drones and broadcast live in an Australian television first on ABC TV.

As part of ABC’s New Year's Eve 2014 broadcast, two state of the art drones will fly into the heart of the firework displays to provide audiences with an unmissable aerial view of the incredible fireworks as they explode across Sydney Harbour.

Fitted with small HD cameras, the drones will fly up to 1,000 feet above Sydney Harbour with their direct feeds broadcast live to air, along with footage from nine cameras located around the harbour and from a helicopter, offering unparalleled coverage.

Soaring between explosions for a view point not seen before during a live television broadcast, the drones will capture the fireworks launched from the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Sydney Opera House and barges on the water.
