Full List of Nominations are Below

Will 2015 Gold Logie winner CARRIE BICKMORE make it a double and win the Most Popular Personality on TV award two years in a row? Also in contention are 2014 golden boy SCOTT CAM, game show host GRANT DENYER, respected media talent WALEED ALY, news anchor and social media sensation LEE LIN CHIN and actress ESSIE DAVIS.

SBS Managing Director Michael Ebeid celebrated the news of Lee Lin Chin's nomination telling DeciderTV he was,

"absolutely delighted to see Lee Lin recognised for a Gold Logie nomination. She is quite legendary and unique on Australian TV and her work on The Feed has allowed her to show the breadth of her talents."

The Nominations Event today at Crown Towers Melbourne, was a star-studded occasion. Hosts SYLVIA JEFFREYS and PETER HELIER announced the Nominees for the Awards in May, while actor DAMON HERRIMAN presented the Most Outstanding Newcomer Awards.

Best Drama Program will again be a hotly contested category as 800 Words, A Place To Call Home, House Husbands, Home And Away and Love Child fight it out for this year’s Logie.

Foxtel has secured a record 19 nominations for this year’s TV WEEK Logie Awards, including 13 for its internationally celebrated Australian dramas and 2 for its acclaimed news and sports coverage, as the shortlist for television’s “night of nights” was announced in Melbourne today. Foxtel Executive Director of Television Brian Walsh said:

“This incredible haul of nominations for the TV WEEK Logies is a landmark moment for Foxtel. This firmly re-enforces our commitment to producing a wide range of Australian content for our subscribers, across drama, lifestyle and entertainment, as well as news and sport.
“It is particularly rewarding to see our diverse drama slate celebrated so comprehensively. We strive to provide our customers with a rich offering of Australian drama that matches our incredible international line-up, and we congratulate our channel partners, producers, creatives and casts on this significant achievement. The five nominations for one of our record-breaking success stories, A Place to Call Home, is a wonderful recognition of the series joining Foxtel. This is a very proud moment for the company,” he said.

SoHo’s local drama series A Place to Call Home and Wentworth have secured eight nominations between them.

The presentation of the three Most Outstanding Newcomer awards at the Nominations event continued to shine a spotlight on the bright new stars who have wowed audiences in some of Australia’s best-rating drama series.

JOEL JACKSON was announced as the winner of the Most Outstanding Newcomer – Actor award for his memorable portrayal of the legendary Peter Allen in Peter Allen: Not The Boy Next Door. Joel was overseas and was unable to attend the event. However, in a touching video message, he dedicated his award to the late entertainer and his music. He was also nominated in this category for his role in Deadline Gallipoli, up against Rahel Romahn from The Principal.

MELINA VIDLER was named winner of the Most Outstanding Newcomer – Actress award for her wonderful portrayal of Shay Turner in 800 Words, beating Hannah Monson from Glitch and Sara West from Peter Allen: Not The Boy Next Door. Melina was also overseas and unable to attend the event, but said she was thrilled to see the show recognised.

In the third Newcomer award, KY BALDWIN took out the Graham Kennedy Breakthrough Star Of Tomorrow award for his standout performance as a young Peter in Peter Allen: Not The Boy Next Door. He beat fellow nominees Benson Jack Anthony for 800 Words and Olivia DeJonge for Hiding. Accepting his award at the event, the 14-year-old star said, ‘It’s a crazy feeling. I was just really honoured to be a part of it [the show].”

TV WEEK Editor Emma Nolan took the opportunity to congratulate all the nominees, as well as Joel, Melina and Ky for their wins in the Most Outstanding Newcomer awards.

“We’re thrilled to be able to support new acting talent,” Emma says. “We wish them all the best for their future careers.”

In addition to winning a Logie Award, Joel, Melina and Ky will each receive a round-trip ticket to Los Angeles flying with Virgin Australia, and a one-year scholarship at Stella Adler Academy Of Acting And Theatre in LA, thanks to LA-based non-profit organisation Australians In Film and their exclusive partners. They’ll also receive a one-year management contract in LA with Australian Artists Management, as well as a TV WEEK photo shoot.

The 2016 Logie Awards will take place at Crown Entertainment Complex’s Palladium Room in Melbourne and will air on the Nine Network on Sunday 8 May 2016.
